I know we all have different tastes and preferences, but I have to say that of all the basses I currently own (or have owned) I sure like my Buttercream Bongo 4HH with the all rosewood neck. Buttercream has always been my favourite bass colour and the all rosewood neck is to die for. I love the rich deep bass that comes from this beauty. I can only imagine some of the instruments the big time players have come their way, but Juan Nelson (who BP said it was built for) thank you for allowing this bass to eventually fall into my hands.

I will post a couple of photos tonight.

Big congrats Jim, I know you can appreciate that bad boy! Enjoy the heck out of it!

I didn't know that the all rosewood neck was offered back then. I thought it was only offered in 2009?

It wasn't, this was a one-off, without the BFR logo. It came through Knoxville at one time but I unfortunately didn't get to see it.

John, I bought it from here from ProjectApollo (Bill) who appears to have acquired it from LowMoJo, who bought on E-Bay (ironically I was the 2nd highest bidder) and apparently is was a custom order for Juan Nelson (Ben Harper's bassist). I am not trying to gloat about having it, I am just thrilled to have it in my collection. The ironic thing is that some of us older players (who typically don't have the talent level or play the number of gigs as some younger players) have a bit more money to collect things that won't get played as much as they should. Here is a couple of photos I have stolen from LowMoJo's posting - they show the true buttercream colour a bit better (yes, my American friends colour is spelled with a U in it ;-)

Very tasty! BTW, I would gloat about it at least a little bit... it's history and beauty combined.
