Wednesday night my band played a gig at a church for a youth group.

I took my StingRay 5 and my 4 string. I prefer the 4 string for the first song in the set. So we started the first song and my SR5 was sitting on the stand, waiting calmly to show off.

About 4 measures into the first song, we had the system crankin. All the sudden I see people looking behind me with frightened eyes.

I look behind me and a HUGE, I mean HUGE (roughly 400 lbs) wooden cross on the stage is falling. It knocked my SR5 off the stand and then landed on it. I was freaking out, well internally, becuase I had to finish the song.

When I picked up my SR5 for the next song, I was incredibly relieved to find it with no damage at all. One minor scratch about 1/8 inch long buffed out when I got home.

Talk about a scare.

Now I bet that doesn't happen too terribly often.

I mean, you're not likely to hear, "Yeah, that happened to me the other night, too."

Travis, I think you should keep your sparkle SR5's away from churches. Who knows what will happen next?

That must of been the longest 2-3 minutes of your life. Having to play the rest of the song before you get to check out the damage. Thank God(I do Believe :D ) there was no more than a scratch!

Does anyone have a Burnt Apple Ray 5 they'd like to donate when something happens to the Autumn Burst? ;) :D ;) :D

Or a gremlin green or glacier blue sparkle? Travis, you have to remember, they discontinued sparkles! No more disasters!

I doubt God cares one way or the other about an SR5. What were you think prior to that happening?

JK. Glad everything is okay with your SR5.

I would blame the GK amp and the Stingray. Shaking things like that will make things like that happen.

Either that or the SR5 got to the "I will cling to the ol rugged cross" part and was plumb convincing.

I even gasped when I read that. I almost cried when a guy dropped a tuba on my upright bass. My upright wasn't as lucky as your SR5 though. Got a nice scratch in it. I'm HIGHLY protective of my SR5 so it doesn't have but one or 2 scratches. That's from me jammin' through my GK rig. SR5 + GK = Perfection.

Glad it's OK man, but don't forget, scratches happen. Even holy ones.

Looks like a divine message to me - "PLAY THE SR5!"

Whacked the headstock of my SR5 off a very low roof when taking it off last night at rehearsals. Not a scratch. Up til now I was sceptical of the 'it was even still in tune' stories. SR5 is a tank of a bass. ;)
