Hi,

My tone knob on my EBMM JPM7 has recently started working only intermittently. I purchased it new last summer. I hate to send it away. Is this a common defect? Can it be addressed locally?

Thanks!

If you have a soldering iron, just order a CTS replacement pot and solder it in. Just replacing one pot is as simple as pie. ;) I wouldn't risk the guitar in shipment for something that simple.

I really is easy to do, especially just one tone pot. You should give it a try!

Hello

Before soldering a new pot you can first check the quality of the soldering and clean the connections with a contact cleaner.
Most of the time, the component is not faulty but only the soldering.

Just cut the lead to the tone pot. I did, I kept turning it down inadvertently while playing, and like the tone full up all the time. Solves the problem. :D
