My Silent Circuit Mystery

Here's the deal:
I am the proud owner of a 2000 MM90 Axis Sport. The SC doesn't seem to be working right. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem.

Neck: Battery in/ battery out..no difference in noise
Neck and Bridge: Battery in..slightly less noisy/battery out..quiet!
Bridge: Battery in..fairly quiet/ battery out...noisy

BTW..battery is new and installed with correct polarity

Have you pulled off the back cover plate to see if there are any obvious loose wires?
