Hi everyone. I custom ordered a silhouette guitar 1 year ago (white body w/ matching headstock + white paerloid pickguard). When I picked up the guitar in guitar store it was snow white.. very clean.. but I don't know why the paint has turned into yellowish/aged white kind of color after a year.. is it normal with every guitar in white and is there anything I can do about it? Thanks!!:)

Hot damn! Why would you want to do anything with it? This is the exact reason I ordered my Silhouette Special in white. I WANT it to fade and turn that sexy vintage-y worn color. Oh man, you should be so pleased with it!

First, is the guitar exposed to smoke?

Some guitar whites do turn, for whatever reason. They all do to some degree. I personally love that look.

Most people think it looks cool, and most people that buy white guitars should expect some degree of yellowing with age.

I think it looks awesome and can't wait for my Luke to age.

I can't wait for my JP LE2006 to become yellow :D
How many years does it take for a black guitar to become yellowish?

I think there is... If you DARE. The yellowing isn't actually the colour. Most Fenders in both Nitro and Poly also yellow over time. It's actually they poly and nitro coat that yellows and not the paint.

SO, if you're up to it, sand down the finish till you hit the paint coat, and redo the poly finish. Then it'll be white again.

SO, will all white MMs fade to yellow over time? If so, I'm going to have to look at a white AL. I love that colouring in Dizzy's gitfiddle!

I should clarify that it's definitely not yellow, just a little off-white / creamy. The first pic probably emphasises it more than reality.
