I grew up playing 9's all the way, so I'm used to the elasticity and range of 9's. However if you want to go to 10's you wont have to re-intonate the guitar again.

Just some minor fine tuning at the saddles (harmonic and 12th fret tuning) and MAYBE some truss rod adjustment.

For me, EBMM's have such great tone and sustain on them, I really don't need the heavier gauge strings to get a nice warm, full bodied tone.

My 2 cents, but if ya wanna do it, you should definitely do it!

Do you not like something about how it plays with 9's?

I'm asking because all of my other guitars have 10's (or 11's) and when I bought my Axis with 9's, I played it for a rehersal.....and then for a performance and loved the 9's on it. I didn't notice any adverse effects or note changes with chording that some of the other guitars exhibited. I'm keeping 9's on it. My ASS and Sub came originally with 10's from the factory and do still have 10's.

I could probably get used to 9's but my playing style is a little hard for 9's and I have a tendency to inadvertently bend a note when I don't mean to.

If you like 10s change to 10s, I always do (JP came with them which was so awesome, cause setting up a floating bridge =/= my idea of a fun time). On a silo it will only take a few minutes of your time.

I usually play 10's but the wife's Silhouette came with 9's on it and I kinda dig the feel.

Makes the name "Slinky" really seem to fit...

Do what you think is best for you.

the JP's are quite easy to setup, my first JP had 10's and i wanted 9's, so i put some on and was only very minor adjustments needed to get it how i wanted it. my new JP came with 9's factory (at the time they came with 9's) and i love 9's! i actually ended up with hybrids on my original JP, very well rounded strings. :)

there shouldnt be too much involved going from 9s to 10s. as the others have said maybe slight intonation and truss rod adjustment. :)

I play in Eb, but I use .010-.052 D'addarios and they sound and work great! Only minor adjustments were needed to the neck and saddles to keep it buzz-free.

When I started playing I had a crappy guitar to start with. After a month I broke a few strings. They guy at the local music shop recommended I try 13s. So I did not knowing any better. I used them for years. Then I found out about other guages. And went down to 11s. I use 11s now and I feel like 12s might be nice too.

I couldn't bring myself up to putting 9s on my JP. You lose a lot of tone and it sounds thinner.

I have the "Not even Slinky" strings on another guitar and those things are beastly.

I use 11s on my Silo Spec and wouldn't play anything else. On my JP though I use 10s.

I've changed my 10's on my Silo to 9's, and boy, buzz galore!!!!
I played with the truss rod a fair bit, loosened it a fair bit, but still no good.
Mainly the bottom 3 strings are buzzing.Any ideas, or should i ring up customer service?

cant say i noticed this on my JPs maybe the different pickups had something to do with it (had 10's on my steve special JP and 9's on my D-sonic JP)... still LOADS of tone and warmth with the 9's. :)
