My dads stingray 5 sound absolutely terrible, especially when slapping I usually match my eq on my amp head with the eq on the bass treble usually about 60% middle 50% bass 80% and it still sounds horrible and twangy not cool and funky, any tips?

So, what kind of bass do you usually play on? Also, having the EQ on your bass match the amp head is not really the way most people would set it up.

It’s the only bass in the house bar an acoustic bass with 2 strings on it, so it’s the bass I always play

I would start out by setting all tone controls on your Bass EQ to the flat (mid) position. After adjusting your amp head, return to your Bass EQ.
