I finally got my Y2d after more than 8 months of waiting. ;) I originally ordered it with a Floyd, but it came with the fixed bridge for some reason. It plays so nice I decided to keep it and order another one in Tobacco Burst with a Floyd. :D

Check her out below. And check out my blog for more photos and a brief write up. ;)

just read your blog, i have the same problem with my Y2D, the sitar sound on the high E.

Really? It's super easy to fix. Where is it happening... open string or above the 12th fret when bending? When it's above the 12th fret it almost sounds like a fret-out, so it could easily be dismissed as that instead. If it still makes that sound on the 22nd fret you know it's the saddle.

For the nut. all I did was take some 2000 grit sandpaper and very gently filed the front of the nut slot (the side facing the fretboard) to take a little of the front edge off (but not sand the whole slot itself). The sitar sound is caused when the string sits higher in the slot than the front edge. When it vibrates, it pings against that edge. By removing a small amount of that edge there is nothing for the string to vibrate against after the "take off" point. Just do a little at a time and test it frequently. Once it stops doing it, you're done. ;)

The same thing happens with Tune-O-Matics if the saddle slots aren't shaped properly (there's an art to shaping these slots just like with nuts). All I did on the saddle was gently file the whole slot straight on with 2000 grit. The idea is to remove as little material as possible... just smooth out the slot and eliminate any burs and/or high spots so the string sits flush and doesn't ping off the edge. You may also need to slightly reshape the front edge of the saddle slot, as well... beveling it slightly like the nut.

Use a thin piece of metal (like a thick nut shim) to wrap the paper around and form a straight edge. While it is possible to remove too much with 2000 grit, it tkaes a lot of sanding and carelessness to do so. So it really is safe, even if you're not used to doing this type of stuff. Again, just go slow and test after each tiny removal before continuing.

Hope that helps! It literally takes just a few minutes to fix.

Thanks for the comments, guys! This thing is just plain sick. :D It practically plays itself, it's so smooth.

I could easily make these guitars my main players. If you're on the fence about one of these, don't be. ;)

ever read the story "The boy who cried Foggy"?

No. Do you have a copy to lend me?

I originally wanted a Morse, but after playing one, found the neck to be a little narrow for my liking. Maybe after spending more time with one, I could be swayed.
