I took my black pickguard off the new SR4 to polish it with plastic polish and was really blown away by how gorgeous the finish is underneith. I took some photos before even polishing up the bass.

I was toying with the idea of a clear pickguard but after putting the black one back on, its obvious that the bass just looks right to me this way.

The automotive plastic polish didn't completely remove the scratches in the pickguard but after 4 coats, the guard looks much better. I didn't take any photos of the finished product so the below pics are from before the guard was polished.

I don't know...SR without the pickguard doesn't look right to me.

20th Anniversary are different, they look quite cool

Seeing this makes me want to strip as wel... :D

I really have to find a good quality pickguard source and get a clear and mirror ones to try on my sparkle Ray.

I love the look of no pick guard. I've been seriously thinking of taking mine off. I just don't know what to do about the screw holes.

I know the Pick guard is so distinctive that I feel that the bass just looks right with it on. The reason I sold all my other basses and now own 2 Ernie balls is because i was tired of having to modify basses to become what i want them to be.

These basses are perfect just the way they are......but that clear pickguard would look cool!
