Finally got my Stingray Classic 5 with birdseye neck in black. I wasn't looking for another Ball but every other bass I played couldn't keep up with my 'Rays and Bongo. What I originally wanted was a 5-string P-Bass but I ended up with a Stingray 5 Classic :)

I changed out the black pickup cover and pickguard - I wanted a less aggressive look than the stock black and maple, but I saved the original pieces so I can change it back later if I decide...

It goes well with my other Balls -

And the original, my Stingray 5!

I can't help noticing how alike the Classic Ray and the SUB 5 are. Both have 21 fret necks instead of 22 like the standard SR5. I'm kind of surprised that the EB guys went to so much trouble to design the SUB like a classic Ray, it surely should have been easier to just make a stripped down SR5 rather than re-tool to do the SUB5. Those contours on the SR5 must take a lot of time...

Anyway, loving my Balls! Thanks, guys!

Congrats! Nice set of BALLS. I know what you mean about others not measuring up. I've been looking for a nice backup, and keep coming back to my home. I may pickup a used SBMM someday.

Nothing wrong with black, all my favorites are. And different shades of black shows you like more than one color.
