This thing rocks! I bought the BFR Bongo 5H as a backup for my DD SR5, but it might become my number one bass. The tone is so punchy and clear, and it's effortless to play (practically plays itself!) I expected good fit and finish, but this one is above and beyond. I played it with my band last night. After they finished making fun of the shape, they heard it and shut right up :p

There are no basses but EBMM in this house

Black is the least weird looking Boingo ... minimizes the
visibility of the body shape. OTOH, with that PG and the
odd green that sets the DD apart, I don't see what your
bandmates were all about. Neither bass is really less or
more odd looking than the other.

BTW my own Boingo 1H is black with black PG, and yes,
acoarst I agree these things rawk !

It looks cool to me, altough im not a fan of the bongo look, i love the sound of em. So super punchy, yet clean. I'd love to see the back of that neck... :)

This bass is an awesome bass, it was hard to let go but I already have a black Bongo and a single H Bongo so it was made redundant and passed along to somebody who could appreciate it. In my mind a black (bongo) bass with maple neck will always be the perfect weapon on the rock stage, a fiver is just super sizing that to a higher degree. When it comes down to it, Mr. Ball and Co. do not make any bad basses, at least none that I'm aware of- quality is always high and great results are expected- and delivered!

I love reading comments from new Bongo H owners. :) Yep...punchy and clear indeed!!! Exactly what I thought when I first got mine. I remember being constantly amazed at how awesome the tone was for months after I got mine. Now I'm used to it so I guess I take it for granted.

That said...putting Cobalt strings on it just takes it to the next level up. Gotta love the Cobalt strings too!

Or flats, sooo awesome. Honestly, I think I could put rubber bands on my 5H and it would still rock.
