Well, it finally arrived. I traded a very nice luthier-built bass to the great white north for this sucker. Totally worth it! BP, I think you should know that someone in US customs is not a bongo fan. Somehow the volume and blend knobs got smacked so hard the pot shafts were bent and the knobs were crooked! The original owner swears he didn't do it, so we're guessing it happened during the customs inspection. Easily fixed (thank you Dan Erlewine!) and now everything is as it should be. I gotta say, this thing is great! At first I wasn't sure if I'd made the right decision, but once I got it setup and familiarized myself with the controls it started feeling pretty good. I started playing along to a variety of songs ranging from country, cajun, rock, soul, etc. and it always sounded good. My previous bass sounded great, but the tone kind of stuck out. Not so with the Bongo! It didn't matter what style of music I was trying to play, it wasn't hard to get a great tone that fit with the music. It just seems to want to fit in.
It is making a great companion to the Silhouette special that showed up yesterday. Problem is, now I can't decide which one to play! I'm definitely digging both of them. I just keep thinking that these are some of the nicest instruments I've ever played, much less owned.

Wow - lefty. V nice, congrats.

BTW I think you should definitely play the Bongo! I can imagine one or two others saying the same - nice Silhouette though.
