After a couple months of waiting, it has arrived. The pictures don't do it justice, especially the neck figuring. It's amazing. Sorry about the orientation of the pictures, for some reason Photobucket isn't saving my edits.

and for the not so good:

I plugged the bass in and after a minute, it started cutting out. Thats when I realized that the jack was out about 1/2 inch or so. Fit and finish other than the input jack is perfect, though. Not a big deal, but it definitely shouldn't have left the factory like that.

Luckily I have a jack nut wrench and tightened it up and everything appears to be working just fine now.

The bass weighs in at 9 pounds, the neck is delightful and the B string is the best B string I've ever heard. It's thunderous.

That neck figuring is something else, isn't it? The camera battery died just as I was taking mine yesterday so I'll finish mine up today.
As good as these look, they play even better.

Wow. That looks fantastic! Just stunning!

What more can you say after seeing all these amazingly beautiful Bongos. Just superb job by EBMM.

By the way, great photos you've taken. A lot of pics I've seen of these PDN models have a strong orange or red tinge but your pics seem like they're probably more accurate. I've never actually seen Honey Burst in real life. How close do you think your photos are to the actual colour?

Also, btw, if you want to hear even more thunder from that baby try out a set of Cobalt strings!!! Highly recommended.

Mine does have a redish tint to the outside color. I have a Honeyburst SR5 that has a more brownish tint to it. I don't know if it's the difference in the wood used for the body but when I set them side by side you can tell the difference. The pics in my NBD thread were done outside and the sun really brings out the color and woodgrain. I plan on finishing my pics this afternoon and I'll add a couple with the SR5 to show the difference.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Either way, I think it looks great - more red/orange or more brown...doesn't matter because it just look fantastic in all of the pictures. I was curious though.

I guess I'll find out for sure when mine arrives. As Tom Petty said...the waiting is the hardest part. But, it's been 5 1/2 months already so another week or so won't kill me.
