There have been a ton of questions re: "Big Al vs. Bongo", but let me tell you straight out, the Big Al is no Bongo, but the Al in passive mode just about kills every other bass I've played. You need to play these, seriously. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

YOU WERE THE AMAZON GUY!!! NICE! I posted that so you owe me a cheeseburger!
I couldn't get rid of the Bongo 5 HH to make that happen but clearly you just wanted to bring it.

Nice score. My Bongos were at first kind of like, "Oh, what is THAT slutty, pointy thing" but then they started talking family and it was all good from there.

Nice basses congrats. You gotta love the sunburst - suits the Big Al

That's still where I am - can't get used to the pointy shape I'm afraid - but on the other hand the idea of a mahog bodied Reflex EQd EBMM sure is compelling (a bit like a 30th Ray with state of the art EQ maybe). Any reasonable analysis concludes, however that the Bongo is a beauty, a work of art - women love it, and some think it's a v expensive boutique job - bass players love the sound and many love the shape - vintage P basses run screaming from the same room - and only occassional guitards say - 'Oo what's that funny looking bass you got' but then they hear it.........a relatively rare experience for some guitarists to hear the bass player - and you can make them hear it even more with that low mid control!!
