I know the color thing has been beat to death, so no more of that, BUT I can't help being stoked about scoring a Sterling 4H in Honey Burst - my favorite "old color" and the best in the business IMO. I've bought several basses from Bass Central and had been eying this bass for weeks now. I finally pulled the trigger and it will be here this Monday. No pics - no bass? I got pics - from BC's website - check it out. I had previously owned a nice Sterling 4H in tobacco burst - great bass - bought around 2006 - but traded it a couple years ago for a Sterling 5H, always knowing that I wanted to get another one in a different color - honey burst or blue burst etc. The time was now. I had to grab this one before it someone else did.

ONE of my Sabre Classics is HB and my PDN Sterling 5H is HB - now this one - nice little trio. This 4H has the white guard - a cool look, but I already ordered a clear one, which is on it's way. I think the clear may look pretty good on this one.

Honeyburst with white pickguard looks best.

I never even considered this combo, but it does look good. I like my HB Sabre with black PG, but as mentioned, I ordered up a clear for this new Sterling 4H, but who knows - might stick with the white - will post pics of both next week.

I've got a Sterling 5H as well. I was hard-core " I only play 5 string" for years....until I got a Sterling 4 back in 2006 - then the Classic Sabre, so not "going back" to 4 at all - I play 4 AND 5 now. One of my bands is all classic rock and they tune down a half step and that has become a totally 4 string gig.

So, don't "go back" to 4 - play both! Pick up a Sterling 4! I learned on a 4 as most of us did, then "discovered" the 5 around 1985-ish. I had been a long time fan of Jimmy Johnson and Nathan East, both early users of the 5 as we all know.

The only 4 i would buy now is possibly a sabre because i love the styling of them. Id be lost without the low b, ive played 5's for 13 years now and it just feels weird not having the extra range.
You never know though, both my recent musicman instruments have been impulse buys and both at a time when i was relatively happy with what i already had lol

Thanks for the congrats! Now the update - got the bass on Tuesday / swapped out the pick guard. I think I like the clear better on this one - don't hesitate to comment / vote! Interesting how the honey burst is more red on the Sabre and more orange on the Sterling. I did not know that there was that much variation, but it's not an issue at all - I dig any shade of honey burst by EB/MM.
