New Dargie Day!

Thanks to a nice work bonus and after selling my Big Al5, I was able to justify grabbing Eggman's Dargie I 5HSp Bongo. I've missed having a Bongo in the house ever since I sold my original Dargie I 5H Bongo to Jack. Heck, even my wife said, 'Oh, good. I was sad when that one went away. I'm glad you have a new one." Twelve years, and that's the first time she's ever welcomed a new bass with anything other than begrudging acceptance. :D

Here's a couple of quick iphone shots before I left for work this morning. I'll take some better outdoor shots when the weather gets nicer. I might just wait until the other 5HSp neck gets back from Pat, too.

Right now, it's sporting Slinkys and is in shockingly new condition. I'm going to record some samples with the Slinkys, and then I'm going to put the set of Cobalts on it.

I am over the moon with this bass. I'm glad I got to spend some time with the 25th Anniversary 5 string and the Big Al, but Bongos are home for me. I've played bass for 26 years, and when I first played a Bongo in January 2004, that was it. And, the Dargies hold a special place in my heart. So, yeah.....happy monkeee.

Congrats on the new Bongo.

The HS in the background looks lonely back there by itself. Especially with no neck. :D

very nice dargie, looks really good on the bongo, that bongo you refinished looks amazing as well, ebmm should really think about issuing some pastel hues for the bongo

Heh--At this point, I'm kind of glad they don't off the Bongo or Big Al in Seafoam, Daphne, Coral, etc. I don't need the temptation.

Once I get the fretted neck back from Pat Wilkins, I'm done for a while. I've gotten the approval for a 10th Anniversary Bongo next year if they make one since it'll also be my 40th birthday. I don't know if 10th Anniversary merits a limited edition, or not. We've only seen a 20th, 25th, and 30th. But, I hope so. I want to round out the collection with a 6 string HH. I can barely justify what I have now, and the number of keepers just grew by one.

So, now I'll be spending all of my music money on instruments for Billy. He's already got a piano, and some various drums/percussion instruments.

I've owned amazing examples of Big Als and the 25th/reflex and I sold them for various reasons.

Congrats, that is stunning, is that an Ebony board or just the pic? That's a heck of a Bongo group you have.

No, the Dargie just has a rosewood fretboard. But, it is fairly dark.

And, thanks--I've gone through a lot of Bongos and the original two have always hung around, even if they aren't quite the same as when I got them. :D
