Well, we know where that one came from originally, eh?

And for God's sake....the guy wants a thousand dollars for the bass. Could he not be bothered to take decent photos????

Sorry, I'm picky when it comes to such things.

No, Jack, I totally agree. If you're going to sell something - especially something for $1000 - you should try to take clear, in-focus pictures that actually show the instrument and it's present condition. I would expect it to be a common "seller's etiquette" of sorts. I guess not. I see all too many eBay auctions with photos like that. Your photography, on the other hand, is stellar. I love the photos of your basses!

Well, first, thanks. I do what I can, and not only for eBay. I just want my basses to look their best, you know?

Second, that is probably a fine bass, but who would know it? Yeah, we would, the chosen few, but imagine you knew nothing about that finish or that bass.

Let this be a warning, people! If you put up an auction like that one, Nick and I will humiliate you!

The other thing that occurs to me is that yes, sure, it's a cool finish, but the going rate for used Sterlings is not exactly 1K. He hasn't waited long enough. Or maybe he has, but he hasn't gotten the eBay thing down just yet.

I totally agree about making your basses look the best possible. I think I've taken some of your photography advice before too! I often open up all my blinds on a sunny day, put my basses on my bed with a clean, white sheet down and the photos usually turn out quite nicely. No flash, sunny, but not direct. When I get enough basses, I'll have to do a nice family shot, maybe outdoors or something.

As for the auction, yeah, $1000 is a little steep for a used Sterling. I've seen a number of incredibly nice-looking Sterlings going for less (and with great pictures to boot!) recently. It's been killing me (Travis's especially)! I'd love a Sterling to replace my SR5, but I just don't have the cash right now. I also wouldn't have been able to spot the color (and pickguard!) without the Copperhead color thread earlier this week.

Oh, and yes, Jack and I will humiliate your auctions with poor photography! Your basses deserve better!

That's the color combo of the first Sterling I laid hands on...

I liked it, but felt it was a little too far out for me - thought I'd regret it in a year if I took it home.

Decided to order one EXACTLY the way I wanted - glad I did. :D
