hi,

i have an axis supersport on order an have noticed that older guitars, mainly the Axis's or EVH models have darker coloured maple neck finishes which seem to bring out the grain of the wood more, so why are new models lighter as i think the darker coloured ones are much nicer?? so is there anything i can put on the neck.... wax for example that will achieve a darker finish?

thanks,

Tommy.

Just keep playing and don't wash your hands. The dirt and sweat will darken it. Another way is to re-do the oil and wax treatment. The oil and wax put on at the factory is very light. (This is not a bad thing IMHO) making it a little heavier will make it darker.

I would reccomend washing your hands before you play and play until you wear off the oil and wax. Then play some more. Then refinish it yourself. It's fun and easy to do.
