Neck for Stingray

I have a 1979 Stingray fretless that I want to put a fretted neck on.

Status has come up as an excellent graphite neck several times, but they are very pricey.

I read widely varied reports about Moses necks, and Modulus appears to be out.

Any other suggestions?

Keep an eye on eBay, as genuine necks pop up every now and then. Or, you could offer the neck to forum members who might want to swap a fretted neck for a fretless.

The moses necks don't have the 3/1 tuners so those are probaby out for you. Status makes beautiful necks but will sound different than wood. A 3 bolt stingray neck will be expensive and because you will be buying it used you will run the risk of getting a bad one.

Thanks. Ebay has been hit-or-miss, and the few vintage necks I have seen ended up being at least as expensive as a graphite replacement.

Would it be considered poor listiquette if I posted a for-trade message here, or should I put one in the For Sale sticky?

Honestly, if a vintage neck is just as expensive as a graphite...I rather have the vintage one. And it will continue to be valuable where a used graphite will not.
