Hey guys,

i´m new to the forum and want to say HELLO to everybody who reads this! :)

I´m into Music Man guitars for some time now (my brother plays the old EVH model) and hopefully i´ll buy one in the future.

I just have one question about the neck. On some pics i´ve seen a slight difference in the color of the back of the headstock and the neck. As you can see in this eBay auction:

Music Man Silhouette Special - Ernie Ball - Made in USA bei eBay.de: E-Gitarren (endet 28.02.10 18:20:59 MEZ)

Is there anything special about it?

Thanks for the help!

Fab

Hi and welcome.

EB apply a clear coat lacquer to the back of the headstock and as you can see on the photo they mask off the rest of the neck which itself receives a gunstock oil finish - hand rubbed.
Over a period of time the oil finished part gets a patina and goes darker, whereas the lacquer finish (up to the masked line) retains it's fresh colour. This gives youthat "slight difference" that you are on about.
