So, I'm finally getting around to doing a serious cleaning of my SR4 neck, followed by re-application of the oil finish and wax. Some areas have either worn through or flaked off apparently.

I have already read this : How do I clean and maintain my Music Man neck?

My issue is that there are some rough/bumpy areas on the back of the neck, and I can't tell if it is the grain rising, or just the cured tru-oil sticking up a little bit. Would some 000 steel wool or scotchbrite pads be good for getting rid of the rough areas before I apply more tru-oil?

Is EBWW ok for cleaning the neck's back if it isn't to dirty to use oil soap+sanding+gunstock oil? Or it is just a fretboard conditioner?

The Wonder Wipes are good for the entire neck. On the maple fretboard guitars/basses they are finished the same back and front. On the rosewood and ebony fretboard models, they only have the gunstock oil wax blend on the back.

THere also seems to be some kind of matte finish on the headstock, which I don't think is the same as the finish on the neck.
