hey guys. I was just playing my bass and wondered something :D
The MM bass necks are nicely finished and slidy and all, but I was wondering if there are any products or anything that any of you forumers use on your basses to give it an extra amount of slide (before a show or something). I'm sure there's something out there, but i thought i'd ask you pros first.

peace :)

Slippery.........

I read somewhere once that Jaco used to eat fried chicken before the gig.

But he played a Fe**er, so it doesn't count.

If your bass Is Newer as in 10 years newer with an Oil Finish, Just four 0000 Steel wool the back and then 2000 grit sand Paper and it'll look like glass but non sticky. Your hand will glide very easy.

+1

every once in a while I grab some steel wool and go over the neck and it feels great. just make sure the little dusty bits from the steel wool dont get near your pickups. either be careful... or even better mask them off.

I dont do this before a gig... just every once in a while if i feel like the neck could use a lil more slidyness

Try a dusting of talcum powder on your hands - I haven't tried it but a mate of mine says you can always tell where he has played by the mound of white powder left pn the stage - now he did assure me that this was talcum powder !!

Ooglay,

I concur. I put some masking tape over the pickups, then hit the back of the neck with 0000 steel wool, then rub it with a cloth, then re-apply Birchwood-Casey tru-oil and Birchwood-Casey gunstock wax as per the FAQ's on the subject.

Makes the neck lightning fast.

Can't argue with tried & true factory specs.

Optional procedure at your own risk; all of the above, but whilst being naked.

Tried and true. Place left hand on neck. Take right hand pop 3 jabaneros in your mouth and watch how fast your left hand moves around the neck of that bass.
