Neck Swap

I decided to embark on a little experiment with my Luke and my Axis SS as unwilling participants.

I took the necks off of both guitars and swapped them, just to see if they would fit.

I put the Axis SS neck on the Luke first, two days ago, and played it for an hour or so. Tonight, I put the Luke neck onto the Axis SS and played with both guitars. I did not encounter any problems swapping the necks. I'm finding that I like the Luke better now with the Axis SS neck.

And I'm hoping that I haven't somehow irreversibly screwed up my guitars.

Cool! You've just satisfied the fantasy of a few people here.

How is the fit in the neck pockets on each guitar? Snug? Gap? Just right?

This is very cool! Thanks for posting the info Eilif... I'm with Colin - pics would be most appreciated... also, have you tried to set the intonation on the Luke with the Axis neck?

I would imagine that if any two necks have the same number of frets and the distance from the butt of the neck to the nut is the same on both necks, there should be little problem with intonation when switching.

I would imagine that the AL and Silo Special fit as well, but definitely not the JP or Silo.

Really interesting experiment, kudos for having the guts.
