Hi,

I never had the opportunity to hold one JP guitars in my hands (I live in France, they are very expensive here and never saw it in a shop. I don't leave in a big city also).
I am considering buying a JP 6 strings guitar, my favorites being with an ebony fretboard (JP 11 and JP 12).
However I do not like at all thin necks such as Ibanez (17 mm at first fret). My favorite neck profile would be strat modern C type.
I can't find the neck thickness information for those JPs. Can someone help me? Is there any picture/drawing showing the neck profile of these guitars that I could find somewhere?

Thanks

The EBMM page which you used to get here has stats to the necks. But I can tell you now, having played a JP12 and seeing that you don't like flat necks, you'd be better off with JP6 or a JPX. The JP12 neck is extremely flat. I went from playing an Ibanez Prestige to trying out a JP12 in GC and I was kinda surprised by how flat it was.

I guess that doesn't really answer your question, but if you don't at all like thin necks, I probably would not go with the JPXI or JP12.

Agreed. JPXI and JPXII are super flat and thin.

The JP12 is absurdly thin, I measured my old one and it came in at 14mm at the first fret/15-16 at the 12th fret. Neck is also incredibly flat, I absolutely loved it and miss having that profile in my arsenal. As far as I know, the JPXI/12/13 all have that same profile.

The JPX and anything prior have a slightly thicker profile, I'll measure them when I get the chance. They're also not a profile you'll be used to, super comfortable and very different from anything else I've ever played. I believe these pictures are from Spud if I remember correctly, they're scans of a JP7 profile.

Thanks a lot guys,

I'm new to the forum, I started to make a reply and it does not appear. Let me restart:

I have been searching on EBMM website, but could only find stats about neck width, not thickness.
Then I indeed found on the web a picture of the JP12 neck profile with a graduated steel rule, showing indeed 14 mm at first fret. Amazing.
I had in the past an Ibanez RG550LTD with the wizard neck (17 mm at first fret) and it was already too thin to me.

So if I understood well, the only option to me to get a MM JP with Ebony fretboard and a thicker neck is the JP X, right?

any idea if the Majesty will also have a super thin neck?

Many thanks again!

I took that picture :D with my old JP12 :(

Miss that guitar so badly, and correct the JPX is the only one with the older profile and the Ebony Fretboard. The Koa as well? I'm not too sure on that, but it may have the old BFR and JPX profile.

No clue on the Majesty though.
