Hey guys

Im new here so guess id better introduce myself.

Im 18 and ive been playing bass for almost 3 years now. Ive been interested in ernie ball musicmans for a while but ive been worried about a few things.

Of the people that ive seen with Musicmans, theyve had a few more years playing experience than i have and have a relatively advanced knowledge of the bass guitar as opposed to myself with only an average knowledge.

It maybe stupid to ask this, but would it be sensible for me to purchase a musicman (after research etc.) regardless of my playing experience?

Of the many reviews that ive seen im sure i wouldnt be disappointed but i just wondered if you guys could point me in the right direction.

Another thing, how would the sound of a 1 musicman humbucking pickup differ to the sound of 2 passive single coil pickups on a bass?

Thanks for reading

Go For it !

I don't think playing nearly 3 years classifies you as a beginner that is undeserving of a bass guitar as great as the StingRay5.
I say if you really want to keep playing bass, have the money for it, and it's the bass you really want, go for it!
As far as the pickups go, a bass with 2 single coil pickups, won't give you a humbucker sound, you will get different tonal variations from using 2 different pickups.
With the flip of a switch, the StingRay 5 offers 2 different humbucking sounds: Parallel and series. The parallel setting will give you the bassiest tone. It also has a single coil setting which uses the coil closest to the bridge. This setting also uses a phantom coil which only works to get rid of hum, so you get a single coil sound with the hum cancelling of a humbucker. With these setting plus a very nice 3 band eq in it's onboard preamp, you can get many different tones from the StingRay5.
Go check one out. I love them, I have 2 of them.
