I changed the strings on my guitar today (I put in regular light guage strings 10 - 46), and while I didn't have to adjust the neck/intonation, I find that the tremolo seems to have "tightened up" a lot. I'm having to exert a lot more pressure than before while pushing down on the trem bar. The bridge seems to be aligned properly (The plate covering the saddles is parallel to the body, and the saddles are not in contact with the plate). One of my friends suggested removing one of the springs, but I've heard that is not recommended. I'm not an expert when it comes to trem systems and I'm scared that exerting more force to get the notes I want will damage the system. I would really appreciate some input and advice from all of you regarding how I can take care of this problem. Thanks in advance!

The new strings have more tension than the old ones. You won't hurt anything by using the trem
