Could somebody please give me some details about the neck on these guitars?
I have a jackson dxmg and i want to sell it and buy a luke.
I am very picky about this stuff and i was very fond of bound flat rosewood necks until i felt the jackson's neck hasn't got that vintage feel to it.When you do bending it's not the same feeling you get on a maple necked strat.
I recently got into steve and i think he's awesome.I like his guitar but the neck ...is it like a fender ? because I don't like strat rosewood necks, when i play and i look down at the guitar i get the impression it's arched as the action gets high at the 12th fret and less high further on.A maple neck somehow doesnt give me this feeling and certainly not my bound jackson super-straight neck.
I wont be able to get my hands on a luke as there are no dealers where i live here in romania but i'll order it somehow in the end.
Wherever i read on the luke's neck i hear how great it is so please help me.

Does anybody have some pics taken of the neck ,just like the side pics steve vai has on the evo on his site so you can see the action  ?I'll be forever grateful.

Also, what are the active emg's like?I have emg hz's on my jackson as they came stock. And the vibrato system, can u pull up on it or get the rrrrrr sound by tapping on the bar ? OR the namm video i've seen on fpzmultimedia.com where steve does it envolves a floyd rose guitar?

I have 2 Lukes.

1: THE NECK. Is small, probably the smallest neck l've felt on a guitar, but l love small necks. I haven't played a jackson, so l can't compare.

2.PICK UPS. emg hz's, (if memory serves right) are cheap emg pickups. The SLV series pickups sound excellent, nice and warm, l love the single coils, you get a nice clean sound.

3.BRIDGE. the bridge does come floating, but you can have it flat if you like, although l keep it floating, stays nicely in tune, yes you can get that rrrrrrr sound on this bridge, l do that often myself.

But check out reviews on this site or go here http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Ernie-Ball/Music-Man-Luke-II-01.html

Scott.

A Luke neck is nothing like a Jackson neck. It's very small and narrow, with a very sharp, pronounced "V" shaped back. The Jackson neck is wide and flat, with a very shallow "C" shaped back. I owned a Luke when I was playing Jems, and I ended up selling the Luke because I found it difficult to switch back and forth from a Jem neck profile to the Luke neck profile. Of course, that was a terrible mistake, as now I own no Jems, and many EBMMs... :)

The bottom line is that the Luke neck is quite unique - it's not really "like" anything else. You have to play it to know it.

EMG HZ's are passive, Korean-made pickups; pretty much low-end pickups, imho. The EMGs on the Luke are USA-made actives, and are a completely different (and superior) animal. Of course, the usual provisos apply: IMHO, YMMV, etc.
