Hi All,

I hope you can help me!

I have a JPM model and I'm tuned one step down (D G C F A D), the problem is that I have to use a gauge of 0,11 - 0,52 to get some action that make the notes sound clean, because with a 0,10 - 0,46 (what I usually use) is nearly impossible to get a good sound, strings are too low and seem like a chewing gum! I tried to raise the bridge, adjust the truss rod, etc. but no luck! and actually I don't feel very confortable playing with a 0-11 - 0-52... do you have any idea of how I can adjust the guitar in D with a 0,10 - 0,46?

Thanks!

Hello jjruiz. I'm no expert, but I thought the idea of down-tuning was to enable you to use heavier strings and get a meaner sound? The light strings are bound to feel slacker.....because they are.
If you really can't get used to the heavier strings, and can't adjust the truss rod yourself, I'd recommend a trip to a guitar tech.
There are probably people on here with more downtuning experience than me.....so stick around.

I use 11-49's with no problem. You could try that. Maybe swap the 11 out with a 10 to get you a little closer to what you're used to.
