I have an EBMM Petrucci Signature guitar.

Since the neck of this guitar is not painted, can I use the Finger Ease Spay directly to the rosewood?

I use to spray the Finger Ease to a cloth and wipe the strings with it so it won't go directly to the wood. Last night I was watching the new Dream Theater - Live at Budokan and I saw that Petrucci's guitar neck was heavily sprayed with some kind of oil like the Finger Ease and thats why I'm asking Ernie Ball about this...

Thanks for your help...

I haven't seen the video, but I just worked on 15 of Jp's guitars a couple of months ago, and there was no evidence of spray of any kind on the strings/neck

Well... the rosewood in Petrucci's guitars looked full of something. I had this wet look... hummm, I don't know!!!... I just figure out it was finger ease or something else...

thanks

It could be that John is so blazing fast that the fretboard was beginning to melt........hehehehehe.....or, lemon oil to keep the necks and fretboard clean due to the sweat. I am sure it gets mighty hot up there on stage for him.

If I'm remembering correctly, it's actually olive oil - I remember asking JR about it after I saw it happen in Phoenix on the ToT tour...

If you have the 5 Years in a Livetime DVD, you can also see Kevin Moore spraying Fast Fret on the strings while JP records the Ebow sliding thing at the end of Space Dye Vest - pretty funny, he almost gets it and then misses one of the last slides in the take...

A friend.....he tech'd for him on the summer tour. It's prety easy to figure out tho since the amount they used on Space Dye Vest as noted above....methinks he mentioned it a few times in interviews as well....I may just try that.

It would take some doing to spray Fast Fret! ;)

I'd guess it was Finger Ease in the video.. I'll have to play the DVD when I get home and have a look!
