anyone have any experience with the nady xa-900? that looks about perfect for what i need at the moment.

Don't. Those amps are nice for a small PA system or DJ setup, but they cannot handle the low end freq's that a bass rig in going to be putting out. That same thing applies to the lower priced Crown XLS amps. They overheat when asked to run the "lower" frequencies and decent volumes.

Look at the QSC PLX lines - those are nice

How much "power" you have isn't necessarily the problem. I've read about these amps shutting down not because of the power level or volume level they're running at, but because of the frequencies they're being asked to reproduce. Anything "Bass" requires more power than say a midrange or tweeter driver. I've read about these amps going into meltdown when used as "bass amps".

If you order one from Musician's Friend or someplace like that, they'll let you return it up to 45 days. If you want to try one, do that. This way you can return it if what I've read is true, etc.

There's always the possibility that it might work perfect for you.

Good luck :)

well i think im gonna have to try it. i read a few reviews from musicians friend and they said they were pretty good. and as it is i have no money, and very little income. so that power amp is pretty much perfect in terms of power for price. i would get a nice one, but i just dont have the money or intention of keeping that long. so hopefully someone will smile upon me and make it work well. but ive been warned. thanks for the advice cg.

I meant the amp.

I bought a QSC 1450 a while back and it was and is a great amp for many different things, but the mofo weighs a TON.

And nearly 40 pounds for just a power amp is pretty hefty. I'm just saying - think about carrying it around for a bit before you decide.

thanks for the heads up on weight. but as it is im gonna be using a 86 pound combo, a 91 pound cab, and then how ever much the rack will weigh. so in my opinion 40 pounds is kinda light, and if all else fails i can put it on top of the cab and wheel it around. plus ima youngin, so ill be ok. but thanks for the heads up.
