Hello EB MM Friends!

This is Byron Nemeth.

I just received my John Petrucci Majesty Monarchy 7 in Royal Red (Serial Number: M10429) and am looking for recommendations for the best strap lock system for this guitar please?

Looking for a strap lock system that (if possible) can use the original screw fastener that came with the guitar so that I don't have to use an odd size one, I don't want to change the diameter.

Best options or strap lock experiences anyone can offer???

Cheers. :)

Hey Byron, and welcome aboard.

We may be a little biased here, but I love the Ernie Ball Super Locks. I have them on all of my guitars. Generally speaking, I use the same screw that came out of the guitar to install them. I did this on my new Axis last night, and the screw that came out of it was actually longer and sturdier than the ones that come with the strap locks.

Also, congrats on the new guitar, and no pictures means that it doesn't exist around here. :D

Yeah, Ernie Ball super locks are great. No mods required. I have them on all my EBMM guitars and basses. I love the fact that they require two buttons pushed to release.

Count me another vote for the EB strap locks. I DO use the screws that come with the locks. On the factory strap buttons, the screw head doesn't go through the button, but on the locking buttons it does go to the bottom of the button, so I don't want to use the original, longer screw and inadvertently drive it beyond the depth of the pilot and split the body or something. (Causing a split would seem very unlikely, but I think caution is warranted.) The screws that come on the guitar and with the buttons are the same diameter and thread count, so there's no requirement to enlarge the pilot hole or anything.

I hang onto the original buttons and screws, labeled with the guitar they came from, to return it to stock in case I decide to sell or trade the guitar in the future.

how about the good old Beerwasher strap locks?
Many Pros use them, can´t be so bad.
I for myself never had a failure with them, wheras with Schaller Strap Locks or similar systems the screw nut often went loose

I swear by Dimarzio Cliploks. The only downside is that the clips doesn't play well with some cases...

I'm still using up a huge inventory of the Schaller locks. I tried the EB ones and they are great, if I was starting from scratch I'd go that way.
