I've got a standard 6166 volume pedal, which I love, but I'm having a problem. Occasionally when I use it, it will cause my clean channel to distort. It's probably adding distortion to the gain channel as well, but not detectable. It doesn't do it all the time, but when it happens, it's definitely the volume pedal. If I remove it from the loop the distortion stops.

My rig is a Rocktron Prophesy into a Carvin TS-100 power amp. I'm also using a Carvin power conditioner and a Korg DTR-1000 rack mount tuner. I know this is not the correct pedal for an active pickup guitar, but it's happened with all my guitars, including my Axis.

1. Does the Pot make noises? Check that if yes Deoxit Spray is best
2. Check all In and Outputs, are they clean and tight.
3. Since you need one additional cable when you use the pedal -check this one too!

Hope that helps

Oh are you using it in front of the Input or in the loop of the prophesy?? I forgot that to ask, because you are talking about the loop. Just another possibility.

It goes into the input of the Prophesy. Also, I forgot to mention that I also have a Morley Pro Series II wah. I've cleaned the pot numerous times and I have dedicated cables that are new. I've never checked the fit at the input/output jacks, but I've never noticed anything unusual either.

Ok. And the Morley doesn´t do it?
The EB only adds distortion when in full volume position or is it in every position?

When it does it, it's at any volume that is audible. The Morley doesn't seem to be contributing.

I'm going to have to take another look at it. I haven't used it for awhile because of this problem. On a positive note, if I can't get it fixed, I can always use it as a good blues overdrive pedal.

MN,
you might want to experiment with where you have the VP in your line-up. If you have it after your effects pedals, it might not be the best VP for you. If this is not the case and you think that there is an actual defect with the pedal, you can send it in for a full service repair! Check the link for info ..
Otherwise you can email, or PM me ;)
