So I just recieved the black dome knobs for the volume and tone pots from EBMM, to replace the plastic top hats. I never thought it would be so damn hard to freakin level the knobs and for it to take so long  . And at the end, it STILL is not leveled  . It's like a rotating egg tilted to the side. That's what it feels like and looks like. It's not THAT bad, but I am a perfectionist when it comes to little details, and this REALLLLLLY pissed me off. PLUS I kinda F***ED up the little poles that hold the knobs with the damn screw to hold em on. Am I really that retarded that I cant get it on properly, or is there a specific way to do this damn thing  ??!?!? Anyway, just had to get away from the guitar for a second to write this, now I'm gonna punish the damn knobs by using them A LOT  MUAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

The dome knobs are for solid shaft pots. The tophats for split shaft pots. Take a deep breath....ahhhhhh

What Jon is saying is that you'll have to replace the pots to use those knobs.

Sorry man, Glenn |B)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA, that's bloody crazy!!! I knew I wasnt retarded  Thanx for answering Jon, now I know what needs to be done. So you guys at EBMM have the volume and tone pots with the solid shafts that I can order that will be fine on my Silo? I guess I'll just go ahead and do that while I'm on a damn spending spree (probably not a good thing  ). Since I am going to be replacing the humbuckers anyway, might as well do this. SUCKS that I cant do it myself tho. Jon, if you read this again, what do you think about the DiMarzio pickups: Breed in bridge and PAF Pro in neck (sounds like a good versetile combo?)

Dude, you can get those things at Radio Shack for the most part. You just need the specs on them.

I just did this on a guitar I have. What you have to do is to spread the tops of the shafts apart WITHOUT BREAKING THEM OFF and inserting something into the gap(plastic, picks, wood). Put the dome on and make sure the set screw is not going into the notch. Thru trial and error, you'll get the right spacing so the dome is centered on the pot.

I was just going to suggest this. I used to have an Aria guitar with a million knobs on it, all with dome knobs and split shafts. They used tiny slivers of wood in the splits.
