New Axis for my collection.

I found this Axis locally yesterday and had to pick it up. I had never seen an Axis with a pickguard before so it had to come home with me.

Wow, that "really" changes the overall look, doesn't it!!

Yeah, I make my own "disposal" pickguards for my Axis. Cardboard stock just to protect it while I practice, than I take it off when I gig.

Actually, they look really cool too, maybe I'll patent them and sell them on Ebay!!LOL

That's sweet. I've never seen a "regular" Axis w/ a pickguard either, only on the Sports. I couldn't tell from the pic, is that solid black or is it bound w/ a maple top? I bet there aren't too many of these in existence, great find

Looks like it's solid black, but it also has the binding. You can see the binding really well near the neck pocket.

Very cool find. I know the Axis doesn't need a PG, but they sure do look cool with it. I want to say that one of the guitarists from the German band Rammstein used an axis like that one. There's some video on youtube taht shows it.

At first i wasn't diggin' the PG, but now that I've stared at it a bit, I'm kinda diggin' it! I'm a sucker for black and white old school lookin' guitars. I think a PG works for the solid colors for sure. Very Cool!

the PG gives the axis a total different look.
very classy looking guitar.

btw. the guitarplayer of Rammstein uses a Axis with PG as well.

It does have binding and is jet black. Regular Axis just with a pickguard. My dealer called CS and they told him that there was a short run of them (very few made) in 1998 with pickguards and only in jet black. The more I look at it and play it the sweeter it is to me.
