I found this Axis locally yesterday and had to pick it up. I had never seen an Axis with a pickguard before so it had to come home with me.:D

B-man,

Wow, that "really" changes the overall look, doesn't it!!

Yeah, I make my own "disposal" pickguards for my Axis. Cardboard stock just to protect it while I practice, than I take it off when I gig.

Actually, they look really cool too, maybe I'll patent them and sell them on Ebay!!LOL:)

That's sweet. I've never seen a "regular" Axis w/ a pickguard either, only on the Sports. I couldn't tell from the pic, is that solid black or is it bound w/ a maple top? I bet there aren't too many of these in existence, great find :)

Looks like it's solid black, but it also has the binding. You can see the binding really well near the neck pocket.

Very cool find. I know the Axis doesn't need a PG, but they sure do look cool with it. I want to say that one of the guitarists from the German band Rammstein used an axis like that one. There's some video on youtube taht shows it.

At first i wasn't diggin' the PG, but now that I've stared at it a bit, I'm kinda diggin' it! I'm a sucker for black and white old school lookin' guitars. I think a PG works for the solid colors for sure. Very Cool!

the PG gives the axis a total different look.
very classy looking guitar.

btw. the guitarplayer of Rammstein uses a Axis with PG as well.

It does have binding and is jet black. Regular Axis just with a pickguard. My dealer called CS and they told him that there was a short run of them (very few made) in 1998 with pickguards and only in jet black. The more I look at it and play it the sweeter it is to me.
