Hey guys.
I found this forum via www.ernieball.com.

I've bought a brand new EBMM Axis and first of all - the guitar is great!
First I was stunned it stayed in tune all the time regardless of my dive bombs with the whammy bar :), didn't have to tune it for several days.
However, I was away 3 days - came back and found the guitar out of tune.
It had lowered about one half step..
I noticed that the distance between the strings and the neck has increased and some frets generates a jarring sound.
I guess it needs some truss rod adjustment but am I suppose to send it back for adjustments after just one week or can I do it myself ?

Thanks in advance
John

Do it yourself and learn how. Here are the easy steps to get you started.
Use your 3mm allen wrench you use to change strings with.
Just like a screw, Lefty Lucy, Righty Tighty. (Looking from Bridge to Headstock.)
Since your strings went flat I think you need to tighten. Turn just a little bit (1/8 - 1/4 turn).
Fret the first fret sixth string with your first finger on your left hand
Fret the last fret (22) sixth string with your thumb on your right hand
Try to touch the 12th fret sixth string with your middle finger on your right hand.
There should be very little space between the string and frets at this point.(1/32" or so)
If there is more room then tighten some more. If there is no room, loosen her up.
TA DA - The neck relief is set.
Assuming the bridge height is set correctly, play and bend every note you can. As long as nothing frets out and you like the action you're ready to rock.
Let us know how it goes provided you ever put your guitar down long enough to come back here.

We would love to see a picture of you guitar.
Important: Please be sure to list your guitar(s) serial number on the sticky page above.

Hey Perlan, welcome to the................Forums.

What you are experiencing is one of the unfortunate trade-offs of having the comfort and "broken in" feel of an un-finished neck, but don't fret.
EBMM has made it extremely easy to adjust the neck on it's guitars. Just follow the instructions above, and you'll be fine.

The unfinished necks are more easily influenced by the affects of temperature and humidity changes. Some things you can do to lessen the affects of enviromental factors are:

-Keep your guitar in it's case when not playing it.

-Avoid drastic temp changes. Don't leave it out in your extremely hot or cold car.

-Put lemon oil on your neck every month.

Uhhhhhh,
This is an axis. All Maple neck and fretboard.
Isn't lemon oil only for rosewood fretboards?

I tried adjust the screw but it won't work.
I think I need to put a shim or something to get it right.

if it played good at first.....u probably don't need a shim.

looking from the top rear of the guitar........is the bridge plate parallel to the top.........or is there a slant ?

where do u live????? & where did u but the guitar ????

i wouldn't oil the maple neck that often . there are quite a few opinions round here on oil & maple necks. JON is the man & i would take his opinion specifically on this one.

You can use a bit of lemon oil to clean the neck, but to treat it, use the oil and wax method. Look in the FAQ section of this website for info.
