I think these Stingrays are addictive. I've had my fretless for a few months(it has a birthday this coming Saturday) and I've had to add a fretted to the collection. Today I took delivery of a 20th Anniversary fretted with maple board.

It's a beaut. Has obviously been gigged, as there are a few dings on it, but lovely all the same. It'll need a new set of strings and the fingerboard is a bit dirty(lemon oil to clean it?), I probably won't get a chance to play it properly until the weekend. Played acoustically first impressions are that it feels great. The acoustic tone seems to have a lot of depth. I think I'm going to enjoy getting to know this bass. :D :D :D

Yes, I knew the pics jibe was coming. I'll probably take some in the next few days, then if some kind soul would host them for me, I'd be eternally grateful. :)

Bassmonkey, you should check out photbucket.com. Very easy. I could do it, and I am an idiot.

Drop dead gaw-jis!!! :D :D :D

They look nice in photos, but when I opened the case, the day I took delivery, I could not believe how beautiful it looked.

The tone though, absolutely amazing. Such sustain too, I really can't believe how good this bass makes me sound. To quote Jaco(on his instructional DVD) "Give me a gig!" I really need to start playing with people. This bass cannot be allowed to be played only in the bedroom. I can't believe some people put these in a case and never play them!

+1

Sounds just like my initial reaction upon the day of my EBMM epiphany!

The ultimate sin! The inner beauty of an instrument is revealed through the ears, not the eyes!

She is beautiful! Enjoy!

So, will there be a 30th Anniversery StingRay? I mean, I graduate in '06. That could be a nice present. I might would take over my previously chosen grad present. (SR5, Honeyburst, White pearloid pickguard, maple board, matching headstock) :D
