I finally got the Bongo 4 Hp in Candy Apple Red that I ordered in February. AJ was also pretty cool and found 1 last abalone pickguard for the bass too so I got that added on as well. This is my first piezo bass and I love it. This thing plays amazingly and the piezo adds a really nice different and unique set of additional tones to this bass. I also have to give big props to the folks at Music Man on the new tuners. There is a big difference in the weight of the headstock with the compared to my other Bongo's. The tuners are are also by far the most comfortable that I have ever used when tuning the bass. They are slightly angled and slightly twisted but when you tune the pegs, it is a really comfortable feeling on your hands. Also like others have said, the pictures of the finishes of these basses simply do not due them justice until you see them in real life. The candy apple red pops like you would not believe in the sunlight. It's almost like that vampires skin that all the women fawn over but it is awesome!

Well, without further ado, here are the pictures of this beauty!

Candy Red with Abalone? Why yes!

BTW, I never would have thought of that combination. That was a Dargin invention.

Nice one, very nice indeed.

Thanks Douglas and Jack!

That is very cool to know about Dargin, Jack. I didn't know that. I guess that means I have at least 2 of Dargin's inventions then because I still have my first Bongo, a Dargies Delight II. I also agree that it does make a great combo. I have always loved candy apple red basses and have always loved abalone. With the Music Man basses, I don't know what it is about their finishes but I think they are some of the best in the business. When I look at other basses, the paint seems a lot thinner on them for some reason or like they don't have as many coats on them. On every Music Man bass that I have ever seen that has been painted, the paint seems like it has a lot more coats on them. Also, the metallic in them almost seems 3-D and pops a lot more than any other metallics that I have ever seen.

On a side note, on most of my basses I usually find the sound I like and keep the settings that way. With this bass, with the piezo in it, there are tons of tones I am getting out of this thing both with and without the piezo. There even some tones I am getting with the piezo blended that I am really digging. I just started playing for our church a few weeks back and I can't wait to play this bass next.

Jay... Congrats on another awesome bass. Just imagine the tones you will get out of your HHp when it shows up. Let us know how it does at the first gig. JOSH

Work is blocking the pics, but I know it'll be a beauty.

Just order my Bongo...brand new fresh build. Can't wait.

My NEXT bass (after this) will be a piezo loaded Musicman. Not sure which bass yet. Might try a 5 H Piezo Bongo.

Congrats on a killer bass! The piezo has some magic mojo that really can't be explained with words. Enjoy the heck out of it, and playing (it) at church!

Congrats Jay! Abalone looks amazing on the red! And the piezo, wow, smart choice. I would love to hear that option on a bongo.

Thanks guys! I'm going to try and do a youtube video maybe this weekend demoing the new bass with the piezo. Heck, I might even make it a three way demo with my 4 H Bongo and my 4 HH Bongo.

The youtube comparo is a good idea... that question comes up around here from time to time.

If you do it, please make sure to demo the differences between the 3-band and 4-band EQ on the H. My Hp is a fretless so it's a bit difficult to really do that.

As far as I can tell the 3-band on the H bongo does not just split the mids into hi and low. The bass and treble feel a bit different to me too.

By the way, how's the weight in comparison to your H? One of the things I LOVE about my H Bongo is how light it is.
