Adouglas, my Bongo 4 H is pretty light but this one feels a touch lighter. I'm not sure if it is due to the piezo, the new light weight tuners or a combo of both although I'm sure the light weight tuners at least factor in a little bit of that.

I actually just weighed both my Bongo 4 H BFR Roasted Neck and my Bongo 4 Hp and the Bongo 4 Hp is .8lbs lighter. Again though I'm sure the light weight tuners play a big part in that because the head stock feels noticeable lighter.

Well guys, I'll check back in later. I gotta do some more playing on this bad boy because I am having the time of my life right now. This bass is really inspiring me to play more and more each day. I have always loved playing but I don't want to put this one down!

Don't forget the extra routing that is done to make room for the piezo cavity! My Bongo 4Hp is definitely the lightest bass I have!

Candy Red with Abalone? Why yes!

BTW, I never would have thought of that combination. That was a Dargin invention.

Nice one, very nice indeed.

Oyezzzz ! I had a Lava Pearl Boing4 with Abalone PG [add by me].
It's in Japan now, so the Red-plus-Abalone cult is worldwide even
if it's spread out very thin :)

Full disclosure: I'da never woulda thought of it either. "The Dude"
owed me a PG, and that was what he had on hand ... and a Lava
Pearl Boingo was what I had on hand ... and the rest, as they say,
is history :)

Damn  ...now I'm seriously considering 5Hp Bongo instead of 5H like I decided already!

Keko, I totally agree with J. I used to have a guitar that had a piezo bridge in it from another guitar maker and it was know where near as good as the Music Man piezo. I also have an acoustic bass that I use for playing around at the lake or just jamming with friends acoustically when they go unplugged too and the piezo in this bass sounds better than my acoustic does naturally. Then you add the ability to blend everything and you have countless more tones and versatility available to you.

+1 about the mag-piezo mix on the Boingo.

I usually go about 50/50 on my Boingo 4 1H
cuz there's a disinct majik at about a 50/50
mix [even tho I also dig its pure piezo-only
acoustic effect ... ].

The above differs noticeably from my piezo
preferences when playing my SR4, which I
prefer as mainly piezo, with barely a hint of
mag PU "coloration" in the blend.

I don't know how well they will show up but the tuners slightly twist as they go from the top of the tuners down to the bottom of them. As a result of this, it gives them a really comfortable feel to them when you are tuning or down tuning your bass.

Jay, I am totally jealous of the tuners! I had ordered my Bongo last year, but changed the order to add the piezo which delayed the construction till 2012. I had thought I would be getting the new tuners as this years production, but unfortunately it wasn't the case. But I still love her with the "old school" tuners!!!!!!

Love those tuners! Are they available in black on the new Stealth Bongos?

If the stealth Bongo's are still available to be ordered, then I would assume yes as all new Bongos from 2012 on have the new tuners in them but I guess customer service would have to answer that for sure though.

If I can remember well, ...Randy Jackson's black Bongo with maple board (special order) was equipped with black new tuners?
