Finally got the right number of strings.

When four sounds like this, I can learn to get by.

I waffled on this trade for a bit. I mean, I wanted this one, having never had a full rosewood neck BFR, but I really wanted Ritch to take something else! He's no fool, though. Good for him, I say!

The bass Ritch is getting has brought certain P-bass players to their knees. It's the DD2 Bongo HS 5 with ebony board. I still have a Dargie Bongo, of course. (Craig claims to be using it on the Lady Antebellum record, but if anyone is near Nashville, keep an eye on the pawn shops, mmmkay? I think he's trying to re-create the Abbey Road studios over there.).

I had BP's rosewood neck 4 banger single H Bongo here for a couple of days long ago but really didn't have much of a chance to abuse it. So this rosewood neck thing was a mystery in some ways. I wondered if there would be much difference between this and the Flaming Biff Bongo (4HH). Um - yeah, there is.

Not a lot since I've played the living bejeezus out of that bass and the back of the neck is really shiny now, but it is different enough to justify (hah, like I justify these things) having two 4HH Bongos.

Plus, I've just been getting happy with four bangers lately. Since I have no gig, I can afford to screw up. Heh. Who's going to call me on it? Mostly, I've been playing my SBMM Ray34ca and now this one. Sweet to have those kinds of options.

Thanks, Ritch! (And yes, I'll trade you back if you ain't happy - I doubt we'll get there, but you have options, too.)

Craig spending way too much time on global music domination and way too little time humoring us on the forum.

Man, I love that bass. When I saw it I thought to myself, do I really need another orange bass? Well, it doesn't matter because I don't have the cabbage.

Can you perceive any tonal differences with the all rosewood neck?

I don't think so. The feel is a little different at first but then how much of the back of the neck do you touch anyway? I mean if your technique is good. Mine's awful so I have a great big handful of it. Don't tell anyone, though.

I thought it sounded a just a bit edgier (more aggressive) than a standard HH - but what do I know, all of my Bongos sound slightly different. Like BP said it is about the feel and that one feels nice!
