What an adventure. Got the itch for another bass so I visited Guitar Center here in Tampa. Picked up a MMSR5, beautiful black with white pickguard. Was looking for an amp as well and picked up an Acoustic 100w bass amp which was OK. The next day, while visiting the Clearwater GC, saw a Bongo and played with it (4 string HH) and fell in love with the bongo. Took back the 5 string and the Acoustic Amp and ended up with the Bongo and an Ampeg B210sp. Well, I thought that was the hook up (really did not care for the Ampeg. I know they make great stuff but just not happy with the 210). Went to GC in Tampa again as they have a better selection of amps and there it was, the Big AL!! Picked it up and thats all it took!!! I LOVE THIS BASS. The tones are outstanding and you can just never run out of tonal options. The passive sound is unbelieveable! I have a Lakland, which I love and will never part with, but the passive tone of the Big AL is perfect. Man what a bass! I highly suggest picking this bass up and bringing it home. In the end, the Bongo had to go back as did the Ampeg but I ended up with the best possible outcome, a Big Al and a Mark Bass 210 combo!! Thanks MusicMan and I will be getting the Bongo again one day. Too many great basses, too little money at the time!!!

After reading that story, I think I never again want to read any story about how bad GC is! Around here, if you buy something, there's no way of returning it a couple of days later just because you don't like it!

That said: Cool combo :)

Really? Yeah, 30 days no questions asked, as long as it shows no signs of wear whatsoever. But it's not outta the kindness of their hearts - it's to be competitive. MusiciansFriend's policy is 45 days.

I'm safe from that because I won't be playing one anytime soon :(

But Pete should have a nice Big Al DD2 waiting for me when I go home next year!:D

Sweet bass by the way- wish I had the money to pick one up, but that won't be for a looong time as I just picked up my 2nd Stingray recently.
