Does anyone have any info on what new colors might be offered on the Bongo for next year?

My understanding is this year (2010) only has 3 different types of black, (including Stealth which is mine), then silver, blue and red (minus the fancy names).

I would love to see some more variety as I want to order a second Bongo...

I think it's a safe bet that we're months away from knowing what, if any, new colors will be available. Start looking for Winter NAMM torture a little before Christmas, but don't be surprised if it doesn't happen.

I learned long ago to shed any preconceived notions and sense of entitlement when it comes to this stuff. What will be will be, it will be ready when it's ready and there's a darned good reason why things are the way they are.

Therefore I shut up, play my bass and count myself lucky to own examples of some of the best colors ever (IMHO).

Though discontinuing Desert Gold still strikes me as bug-nutty. :D

Ice Blue

I really wish I had gotten an Ice Blue EBMM when that color was still available.

:(

Basscentral.com and theperfectbass.com both have new Ice Blue EBMMs.
Thought you'd like to know.

I can guarantee they don't have a Big AL 5 in ice blue.

EDIT: With Summer NAMM coming up, and the supposed release of the Reflex model, I would like to think that there is a possibility of some new colors. So, hopefully we don't have months and months until we find something out, if anything.

Was SitOnMyBass referring to a Big Al 5? Sorry if I missed that.
I know they don't have those in Ice Blue.

Sorry to double post, but I had to add a +1 to this comment. While there are only 6 colors currently available, all are at once distinctive and classy, and just look great. I'd love a Bongo in that shade of Red. :) I'm not going to hold my breath for NAMM - what happens then will happen then. I will enjoy my Trans Red Sterling in the meantime.

No, I was only referrring to having missed out on the opportunity to get any EBMM 5-string in that color while that color was still available.

Beautiful!!! You are a lucky man Sitonmybass...

I would love a Bongo in orange again - the white guard on yours really sets it off. Come to think of it, I would love a Big Al in that colour too.

I had to learn that, too ... but still: a very big "YES, PLEASE!" on new finishes for the Bongo!

Of course, there's still the option to buy used or one of the more-than-two-years-old case queens sitting in some the well stocked US stores, but I'd much rather have my first EBMM new, with warranty and built to my spec (within the limits of factory options).

Basically, this is the reason why I keep lurking on this board ... so no torture is still torture! :D

Edit: And bright, vivid colours work so well on the Bongo ... I really never understood why the choices were reduced to three shades of black and generally pretty conservative finishes. You can't really camouflage that body shape in that kind of "Carry on, nothing to see here" paint - and why would you?

I like Stealth bongos as much as orange bongos. I don't see anything wrong with having 3 blacks if they sell, but I do think EBMM needs one or two wilder colors like DG or OF. And more trans colors for the Big Al and Silo lines!

Sorry I wasn't clearer--there are a host of colors that were available for a year, and then *poof* gone. Personally, I was holding out for a three pickup 5 string Musicman in ice blue, orange mist, fire gold, cabernet pearl, etc. I find the other colors a little pedestrian to me for something as radical as the Big AL or Reflex, to be honest.

Red and blue are nice, but I have no desire to own one in those colors. I have two great Bongos to play, and honestly don't NEED another bass.
