My new Bongo arrived on Thursday, but it came in as fretted instead of fretless. I'll be keeping this one until a fretless arrives in a couple of weeks, so I'll get the chance to build up some GAS for a fretted with a SC/H/P set up. :D

Here's the white Bongo with my Sapphire Black:

While I am obviously disappointed that the bass didn't show up fretless, the way that Ernie Ball AND Guitar Center handled it was above reproach. Not only is GC letting me hang onto the fretted Bongo until my fretless arrives, I actually received word from Ernie Ball to call them, and I was treated very well and heard straight from the horse's mouth what they were doing to make it right. I've dealt with many companies in the past, big and small, and EB/MM has given the best customer service, hands down.

I'm going to record some sample mp3s of the SC/H/P Bongo before I trade it in for the fretless so people can finally hear the difference between the two configs, too.

I have to admit, for getting the wrong bass, I'm actually pretty happy since I still get to play with a new Bongo. it's almost like an appetizer before the main course of the fretless.

So, is it wrong that I want a bright yellow pickguard so my fretless will look like a giant Egg? ;)

Beautiful!! The Black and White Bongos look great together. That was a great idea, kind of like yin-yang. There is definately something to be said about the simplistic beauty of a white guitar. I think my next bass might be white.

oh, man...GASing BIG TIME!!!

Love the contrast with the Saph Black Bongo. Now you have me wondering about getting a white fretless to go with my Saph Black Bongo (on order).

Glad to hear that EBMM and GC are treating you right .

Enjoy the new Bongo (sort of). Looking forward to hearing the HSP sample.

And, yes, you should cut out the "egg" from you Bongo diet :p

Wow. That white finish looks much better than I'd imagined. Didn't think I'd like the black knobs on the white body but I surely do.

Looks pretty sexy. I won't be doing white since my old bass is white and I have looked at that thing for as long as I can stand to. lol

The white with abalone looks great in person.

I thought about changing the color combo since I was essentially getting the chance to order my bass, again. Almost changed to Medallion Gold/python pickguard, but I decided to stay with the white/abalone.

The fretted version looks really nice, but I have a feeling the color combo will work really well once those speed bumps come off the fretboard. :D There's just something very "no frills" about a white bass, and with all of the coffee table basses that are in vogue these days, I just wanted a simply color scheme that would match my current Bongo.

Don't get me wrong--I own a couple of crazy coffee table basses, too.

The SC/H/P fretted Bongo will make a great bass for someone after my fretless shows up. If this one stays in Atlanta after it goes back to GC, at least people in the area will have a chance to try out a different pickup scheme than all of the H/H and H/H/P setups around town.

Hm... I wonder how the plain black Bongo w/ white pickguard would look like. That's as "no frills" as you can get (which ain't bad)! :D The pics on Bass Central suck.

Okay, so maybe abalone isn't exactly "no frills." :D I am definitely going to get a tort guard for it eventually, though.

i'm sure a gloss black Bongo with a plain white pickguard would look great. It'd be the perfect wedding Bongo, that's for sure.

Nope--LaBella Black Nylon Tapewound strings. They sound great--thumpy, but with a nice clarity.

Hehe. I noticed how not only do the finishes on the Bongos contrast, but the strings as well! *gets booed offstage for being ridiculously lame*

Man I love white basses. White, 4 string HH Bongo with a crimson red Pg and I'll be set.

I like 'em, too. But, only when they have a pickguard. And, I plan on getting a tort guard for this one (or, the fretless, anyway) at some point in the near future.

Holy Crap! That white with the Abolone guard is beeyootifool! :D

I wouldn't change the p/g to tort for anything. That's really unique.

I think the white with abalone looks really great, too. I'll only be getting the tort guard for the white after I get another pickguard for the Black Sapphire (I'm thinking python) Bongo. I'll swap 'em out whenever I feel like a change. I really enjoy the abalone pickguard, though...

Hey guys, I don't know how to do the 'picture in my post' thing, but in the close up of the knobs for Bov, what's with the third stack? I mean from bottom to top it's(i think) stacked bass/high, stacked lowmid/high mid, then what would be a pickup fade on the HH, then volume.

My question is that knob that should be a pikcup fade looks stacked. Is that just a HS thing? Am I seeing incorrectly?
