Howdy!

New to this forum...and new to Musicman basses. I loved the look of this bass and had to get it. The HH offers some great varied tones with the selector switch.

I am loving it so far....only tried thru my headphone amp...looking forward to gigging it at the weekend.

I'd like the action a tad lower, so will prob take it in for a set up as I'm not to good "under the bonnet"!

Anyhow, I'll do a post gig review of the bass.

Nice bass JJ. Welcome to the forum. A MM bass is not as difficult as you may think to set up. There are plenty good folks here to offer you advice who are well seasoned in the setting up department. You could also try a search to find threads that have dealt with the subject in the past.

Welcome, JJ! I'm a single-H kinda guy, but that is one nice bass you've got there!

Looking forward to the gig review...and pics of the Ray in action?

Welcome! Nice looking bass. I'm going to have to have one of the HH 'Rays before too much longer. Got to cut loose one of my Bongos first though.

Is that one of the '05 LE Buttercreams?

whichh Bongo are you cutting loose? I don't believe you will do it!

Looks like a Buttercreme from here.

Congrats! As the other guys mentioned, doing a tweak/set-up is easy on these basses, but I also understand the need for professionals if you're not comfortable with doing it yourself....but we'll help you along.

Nice! Is that ButterCream?

Tweaking the truss rod and lowering the strings is real easy on MusicMan basses, and unless you overdo the trussrod tweaking there isn't anything that will break. Do a search (Rod Trussbroken has a very nice relief set up post somewhere) and ask away if you have any trouble.

Oh, and welcome!

Thanks for the welcome Guys!

Yes, it's the '05 LE Buttercream HH....I absolutely love the colour.....deeelicious!!

Re a setup, I'll do some searchin thru the forum, but, as a starting point, would I lower the action by rotating the wheel firstly, or should I try lowering the strings at the bridge first?

Thanks
JJ

I have that setup saved to file Gav posted quite awhile back. Would be happy to email it to you. PM me the address you would like it sent to. It is saved in text format so nothing special to open.

Yeah!

Another Butterdream owner! Gotta love this bass. The oxblood letters, the case and the tone!

Buttercream 2 pups are quite rare, especially the HS versions.

I think I just might hug my bass now. She's a beaut and she's rare! (I like my prime rib medium however)

Well I've gigged the new HH Buttercream Beauty......and My-O-My it did me proud.
Fantastically thick, punchy, authoritative(?), tone for days.....absolutely loved it thru my Epifani rig.....you beauty:D

Used it in posn 3 all night..... Eq flat and voila!

Any Eq and switch tips for different tones gratefully received guys.

Also, anyone any idea of the number of 2005 LE HH 4 Buttercreams made?

Cheers from a delighted Newbie
