It's poplar with the (approx) 1/4" maple top. I don't care for the bridge pup bc I don't play like Steve does, always switching to the front pup when playing on higher registers.

I prefer to have that auauau sound (my best Paul Gilbert impresion :D). But you know, more mids and less treble.

I like TZa but already have one of those in another guitar and I want something different.

I do have another guitar that is all poplar that I have an SD Distortion in and the combination sounds great. My understanding is the SD Distortion was trying to copy a Super D, so I'm thinking a Super distortion might work.

Also in mind:
Air Zone,
The Breed,
AT-1 (Andy Timmons sig)
Super 3

Thoughts?;)

I like how the Dimarzio website is set up now with the EQ of each pup right there in front of you.

Anybody tried a Super 3? I'm thinking that might be a nice one to try

I replaced a Super Distortion with a Super 3 in a Les Paul a few years back and too me it was kind of muddy. I went back to a Super Distortion a few months later cause of it. I will tell you it sounded good if you just want to chunk a long. The little leads and solos that I do just got lost in the mix. If you are looking for a pickup with more mids why not try a Evolutuion or a Evo 2? My Silo Special came with a Evolution and it was not my style but it was real clear sounding.

Thanks for the ideas fellas

I had the bright idea last night as I was looking at the Domarzio site. It seems the front pup on my Morse has the voicing that I like in a bridge pickup. So I emailed Dimarzio and asked if I could get a rhythm pickup made with F-spacing, Steve's sig, and deep purple color (something that is not a stock color)

They said I could get what I wanted in any other color, but those made in that color are specifically made for the Music Man guitar. So negative on that.

I have a Tone Zone here in black. I have decided that since I can't match the color I might as well try it out. If it doesn't sound good I'll try something else.

Stay tuned
