Internet Archive: Details: House of lies first 1:44 rough cut guitars

A song I am working on for I guess what you could call a band, it's just me and an angel of a drummer at this point (can be tough to find dedicated people around here). Still much work to be done.

Please forgive in advance that there are no drums, bass, or vocals (this is a relief sometimes:p ), poor sound quality, string noise, and I really started to push the tempo on the syncopated parts, kinda killed the groove but I was much too sleepy to care when I recorded lol. Also, my techincal ability isn't superb, but I'll never stop practicing :D

The rythem parts are one the Mustaine LTD and the solo is on my Sub.

I also have more upbeat/happy and fun stuff i can post too once I record it. Hope you enjoy!

Haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but can I make a suggestion? You'd be much better off posting an mp3, that way more people could hear it. The wav file is 18 Megs, a little on the large side, and I never heard of a Flac Fingerprint. I'm trying to listen to the wav right now, but although the clip is only 1:44, it's taking forever. Mp3 is a very popular format, and the files are small, and quick to download.

Thanks for posting mate, always like to hear other peoples work...

Its a really nice sound - the intro is rich and has texture. I think the "top" guitar needs to be a bit higher in the mix.

After about 25s I was wanting "something" else, be it a vocal, or a different top guitar line. Perhaps bring the heavy riff in a bit earlier? When it comes in the riff has got a great groove, but needs drums!!

Nice start though mate, well done!!:)

I see what you mean, I think right after the first solo might be where the first verse is, but still not sure, much work to be done and no one to sing the lyrics anyway :p

I am glad you enjoyed it!

I would like to hear more of a tonal variation on the two guitar parts in the intro. I thought they sounded very similar and were kind of tripping over each other sonically (getting mixed together so I couldn't differentiate easily between them).

You know - experiment. Maybe a different effect - or no effect, or just a different place in the mix - panned to one side or another more or even a greater difference in volume level - it's really up to you. I always like that over the phone highly distorted from a 100 feet away sound for a contrast to nice plushy clean sounds - but it's your call - it's your song! :D
