My brother, who is the talented bass player in the family, used to play J basses. Then he didn't play much for some years (getting kids) and when he was looking to get a new bass he went shopping with me. To my horror he picked out a bass I like to call the paddle, you know the german made variety.

But then day before yesterday he calls me and says "wanna go bass hunting, I am starting to get bored with the paddle and need a real bass."

Ok, so he liked the SR4 even more, but he even admitted to the Bongo being far superior to the paddle, which coming from him is a big thing.

SO now he'll get an SR4 as soon as the paddle is gone, which shouldn't take too long as they have a strong following here in sweden...

here he is, and look how happy he is playing a real bass (albeit with one too few strings)

That's a great shot. I know I'm rapidly loving my Bongo more each day. I say this with mixed feelings, but I'm pretty sure I'm starting to prefer it's tone(s). It's more refined, but without sacrificing any balls (no pun intended) or aggressiveness. In fact, for finger-style, it has even more ... way more punch. And I'm starting to get my slap tone and technique dialed in. Just HUGE ... but again, at the same time, modern & refined. I think I remember hearing somewhere sometime, that I might really like the Bongo ... hmmmmmm, where WAS that???.
