hmmmmm..... Interesting. my main bass is a 05' Bongo 5 with double humbuckers and piezos and i'm lookin at the adds for the new doubple pickup stingray, which i could also get piezos on. so would these be nearly identical basses? there are a couple obvious difference but would they be worth owning both...... If my checkbook will allow, i might just have to order one and find out!

the Bongo and a 2 PUP Ray will sound different ... so theyre definately not going to be identical basses. They have different wood n neck - there's those factors on the tone as well as the different preamps on the basses. I also beleive th PUPs are totally different.

but i do have a 2 bucker Ray and I love it. swing by the SF GC and try one out ... I've seen 2 bucker Rays there.

i've been curious about the pick-up selector. On the bongo its so sensitive because its a knob and not a fixed switch like the stingray. Sure the woods are different which is a major factor in tone quality. I assumed that the pick-ups were the same, which i think has a bigger effect on tone.

PS, if you go to SF GC then you might remember a saffire blue bongo 5, its mine now!
