Hi,

I have noticed this on other new strings as well, but also on my EB strings which I use most of the time these days:
I put on a fresh set of strings and after playing them for an hour or so my fingertips have gone all black from the NEW strings.
Isn't that very odd considering the string come new out of a sealed package?
Shouldn't new quality strings not leave any marks like that?
Am I the only one experiencing this?

That's common with most strings as I know of -- just how the chemistry works with new strings and fingers, it's impossible to remove all particles from guitar strings during processing.

Finger oil/sweat chemistry does change from person to person and if you've noticed that from other strings too then my guess is that it's just that and not a problem with the strings. But talk to customer service and see what they say. After all, they are the experts and they are there to help.

Thanks!

I was just wondering if this was something that would only happen with certain strings.
I might actually make it a habit to wipe down each (unwound) string with a piece of cloth before I put it on the guitar.
