I was asked to do a quick clip of my EBMM Petrucci with the Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ with big open chords. I decided to do Lines In The Sand by Dream Theater. It is a real quick clip of the tune. I have never played it before but the real tune has majestic and big sounding chords. Turned out pretty good. Don't mind the playing. I know it isn't note for note.

Thoughts? This was recorded at really low volume. Have a couple of sleeping kids in the house. Turn it up when you listen.

Sounds awesome! That was the reason why i bought Mark IV unfortunately for me i wasnt aware that this track was recorded with Mark IIc+.
But its hard anyway to get IIc+ in Europe.

Anyone recomends axe FX for it?

Ill try to record my version on mark IV but it would be easier if i would have backing track :D

Nice job......same question as DT......?

jack

Thanks!

Good stuff! What setup do you use to record?

Thanks! I used the following chain:

EBMM Petrucci (original pickups) -> Mark IIC+ -> Bogner OS 2x12 -> Sennheiaer e609 & Shure 57 -> M-Audio Mobile Pre USB -> nTrack 6 DAW.

Sounds great, just like the man himself.

Thanks!

What year is your Mark IV Sickindian?

A lot of people say that the earlier Mark IV's (the A version) sound very similar to the Mark II C+. I have an A version from the early nineties, and while I've never A/B'd it with another Mark IV or Mark II C+ in person, whenever I hear the Mark II C+ it always sounds VERY similar to my amp--close enough for me to mistake the two anyway.

But as you can tell from all of Mr. 5413's recordings, both the Mark II C+ and Mark IV sound amazing! So it's kinda a win-win no matter what you play ;)

I can't compare the two amps because they are different IMO. I owned a IV for two years, a V for two weeks and now the IIC+. The IV will always have a special spot with me. The IV is more smooth and compressed than the IIC+. The IIC+ has a raw, aggressive and throaty voice that is unique. No Mark series amp sounds like it. The V was too congested and compressed in comparison. The IIC+ sounds very open which is nice.

I would gladly (and love) to own another IV someday. I will say that I don't see the IIC+ going away, period.

great playing!
