I'm in the process of buying my first EBMM. I'm mostly interested in the stingray ht. That said, while I like the current colors I don't love any. It's been about two years since those finishes were introduced. Is it reasonable to expect new finishes would be added end of this year/early next year? Is my best bet to keep checking the vault for interesting one off color launches?

Welcome!!!!! So if new colors are going to be announced it'll be during NAMM 2027 (January). Yes the Vault gets special drops every now and then, but they tend to limited to like 10 pieces, so I'd check daily.

Or your other option is to buy used and have it refinished to your liking.

There are currently 88 listings for EBMM Cutlass on Reverb. Get a great used one in the color that moves you!
 
Thanks for the replies all. I’m always scared of buying used, particularly for what I consider my first forever/end game type guitar. An extra 700-800 bucks for being able to return it or at least help solving if there is an issue.

That purple from the old bfr run was amazing. Or if they used lakeside blue on the ht rather than the rs. Most likely I’ll just go with mystique though
 
The good thing about buying used is that if you don't love the guitar, you can flip it and not take much of a loss. So if the old colours appeal to you, I'd also suggest it.
 
And any hardtails I remember where limited special runs, I keep my Sabre this way, springs locked down the trem and trem arm in the case :)
 
Good to know. Are decked trems (particularly a high quality one like EBMM) as stable and easy to change strings with as a fixed bridge? My only two electrics are a revstar and a tele both with fixed bridges. I've just never felt the need for a trem, but it does open up a lot more options
 
Yes, super easy, the string through body and Schaller locking tuners makes string changes quick and simple. I have 11 EBMM 5 hardtail and 6 trem (non Floyd trems ) and changing the strings is super easy on all of them
 
With the trem decked, the spring tension is pulling it back, but the trem is resting on the body. The only way it moves is if you pull it away from the body, either by using the bar, or with increased string tension (higher gauge, tuning up, etc.).

So- it's not much different for string changes than a fixed bridge. There's no re-tuning the way you would on a fully floating trem.
